Statement to voters
It’s time we started putting people first. During the last 9 years the Tories, with help from the Lib Dems, have cut our public services to the bone. We have millions living in poverty and there are people living on the streets in towns and cities throughout our country. We need an economy that works for everyone – not just the privileged few. This election isn’t just about Brexit – it is about what kind of society and world we want to live in. Our young people have demanded that their future and the future of our planet should be of the highest priority. I agree with them – we need to have the most comprehensive green policy underpinning our approach to everything.
Meriden residents who are eligible to vote only realistically have a choice of the two main parties. All the other parties lost their deposits in 2017 and in every parliamentary election only Labour has been able to challenge the Conservatives. I believe that a vote for me as the Labour candidate is a vote for real change. It is a vote for someone who has spent most of their life serving their community.
It would be an absolute honour and great privilege to represent all the citizens of Meriden – young and old – as their MP. I undertake to be a hardworking, campaigning MP who will act tirelessly for Meriden.
