Statement to voters

After 24 successful years as a Merton Councillor, I moved to Kingston to live with my partner.

Full statement

As a Councillor, I served in many roles, including Cabinet Member for Sport & Leisure. I was responsible for rebuilding Colliers Wood Library at no cost to the taxpayer and delivering Morden Leisure Centre, almost identical to the new Kingfisher, but with no loss of service, very little delay, and at a fraction of the cost of what we are seeing in Kingston.

I now lead a quieter life, helping at the CREST Tuesday food bank, presenting popular and often chaotic rhyme times for children twice a week in Mitcham, and looking after my three grandchildren. I am also a keen walker. I followed the Grand Union Canal from London to Birmingham last year, and I am currently walking from Rome to Lecce in Southern Italy in stages.

I enjoy working with people and staying active. I bring a practical, imaginative, and cost-effective approach to everything I do. I believe Kingston would be better served with me as a Labour Councillor.
