Statement to voters
What does our area need from its local councillor? Is it someone who will be a strong voice on the council? Is it someone who will listen to local people and understand their concerns? To me, these are some of the most important things a councillor can do.
Full statement
They are the principles that have guided me as a local town and district councillor over the past decade.
I’m pleased to say that I’ll be seeking your vote in the Gloucestershire County Council elections on May 1 to continue fighting on your behalf as your county councillor.
For those who don’t know me, I live in the Abbey Grounds with my partner Joanna. I’ve lived in Cirencester for 40 years and raised my three children here.
You might know me from the Advent, Jubilee and Phoenix festivals, my time as Mayor of Cirencester (2015–2017) or maybe just from seeing me in the Drillmans, Golden Farm or Corinium Hotel enjoying a pint! I currently serve as a town and district councillor and am proud to call this place home.
The election in May is really important.
The Conservatives have run the County Council for 20 years and their record is clear for all to see. Many of Cirencester’s roads are in the worst state they have ever been, bus services have been severely cut, and they seem to ignore residents on the issues that matter, like parking.
While your local councillor cannot fix every problem or get everything right, they can be a loud voice for their local area and provide energy and fresh ideas - I want to do this for you.
It’s time for change. By supporting me, you will be voting for change at the County Council as well as a hardworking local councillor who will stand up for you and our town.
