Statement to voters
"I’m standing for the Borough Council in Atherstone South, because I believe there are a number of issues within the Atherstone and Mancetter that are not being addressed by the current Conservative Council and that this area would be much better served by a Labour Borough Council.
I have lived in Atherstone for nearly four decades. My four children all attended local schools and colleges. I have considerable experience of teaching in various sectors and now work as an external quality assurer for a wide range of qualifications, including teaching support and childcare apprenticeships.
I previously served for ten years as an Atherstone Town Councillor during the 1980s and 1990s, including four years as Leader. During my time on Atherstone Town Council I set up and chaired the Heritage Committee, which led to the setting-up of Friends of Atherstone Heritage. I continue to have a keen interest in heritage and would love to see more recognition of Mancetter’s rich history, particularly in relation to the Romans.
I’m keen to see planning applied appropriately, with any new housing schemes supported by the required schools, medical facilities and road building. I have experience of running two businesses. I am a governor of one of the primary schools within the area and a trustee on Volunteer Centre North Warwickshire."
