Statement to voters
"I moved to Baddesley in 1970. I have always played a significant part in community life. I have at various times been Secretary at the Club, Governor at Woodside and a Parish Councillor, currently Vice-Chair, and Chairman of the Party in the Park Management Group amongst other things. I serve the PCC’s for Baddesley and Grendon Churches and was recently licensed as a Lay Reader. I was a Borough Councillor from 2003 -2015 and was Chair of Resources under the Labour administration. In 2009 I was honoured to be Mayor.
I want to see this community flourish again. Tory misrule over all tiers of government in the past few years has seen our roads riddled with potholes, our school’s class sizes exceeding recommended limits and increases in the services that we now have to pay the council for.
The Conservatives, despite widespread opposition, persist with their ridiculous plan to foist 10, 000 additional homes into existing settlements mainly around the A5/B5000 corridors. The result will be that villages will change from traditionally rural to become sprawling housing estates linking village to village without considering the already over-stretched infra-structure, schools, medical care, roads etc. Labour submitted a well thought out, rational and properly costed alternative to build a ‘green village’ with all of the necessary amenities by junction 9 of the M42. The proposals for ‘green villages’ to combat the housing crisis was one of the Tory government’s better initiatives but North Warwickshire’s Tories rejected it out of hand."
