Full statement
Knowing the issues and problems they face living and working in Polesworth. Being able to then take their ideas and frustrations forward, in equal measure, and work with local agencies such as the Borough Council and Police ensuring their views are heard and acted upon. Challenging policy makers and holding public bodies to account. This is what I will work towards and achieve on your behalf.
I was born in Polesworth on the Grendon Road in 1965 and since then have lived most of my life in the village, as I do now. I have obviously seen a lot of changes during those years some for the betterment of the village and some maybe not…in my view.
My daughter goes to Birchwood Primary, so I know how schools now seem under more pressure than ever financially, having to rely on the good will of parents to fill the gaps
I have seen and felt for myself how much village life means to people, a community that is proud of its family bonds and also proud to live in Polesworth. We all share a great sense of belonging to the village itself and the social ties that bind us together. I really believe in the people of Polesworth and so do your local Labour party, that’s why I am proud to have been selected by the Labour Party to stand at the 2019 local elections, to give everyone a fresh new choice and a chance to have their vote count for real change in our village.
As I live, and commute from the village, I see the daily problems that we all face in Polesworth such as increased road traffic, parking, cuts to local council services and Policing and the general watering down of the few public amenities we have left. With your support and help I can promise you that I and your local Labour and co-operative Party will work with you and all of these agencies to help make our village life improve for all of us not just a few of us.
These are all the things that underpin why I would like to represent the people of Polesworth West as their local Labour councillor."
