Statement to voters
Denise Knights was born in London but raised all three of her children in Kent. Now they have all flown the nest to University and one being a primary school teacher, it now frees up her time to do things she is passionate about.
Her main passion is to make Faversham a great place to live, work and visit. Making Faversham a thriving environment for all. She is the secretary and founder member of the successful Faversham Traders Association. Denise runs her own business, Hamiltons International Ltd an interior Design business.
She has always been passionate about people and community. She left school at 16 and joined the Metropolitan Police Cadets at Hendon. She remained in the Police service until she started her family. As her children grew so did her passion for giving young people a voice. She has volunteered with the Princes Trust as a Talent Match Mentor working with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, also working with Make a Wish charity, for children with life threatening illnesses.
Denise is passionate about giving young people a voice and protecting our elderly people and families from benefit and heath cuts. She has been vocal in her support of the LGBT+ community within the town.
With her policing background she is also an avid campaigner for high profile policing. Getting back to the primary objects of an efficient police force: prevention of crime, then detection and apprehension of offenders.
As part of the FTA Denise works hard to encurage businesses within the town to work togther and support each other, and the town's community in general to make Faversham an even better place.
Why is Denise a Lib Dem Campaigner?
“Having moved back to Faversham 2 and a half years ago . It struck me that this town was living in the past. The youngsters, our future were trying to make a difference and move with the times but some of the elected councillors didn’t seem to like change. I thought I couldn’t moan and not do something. The Lib Dems are the most down to earth party with policies that make sense and are for everyone. We need to be a fully inclusive town embracing everyone and encouraging change.”
