Statement to voters

I have lived in Sheffield for nearly 28 years and have raised my family here.

Full statement

I first worked in the city as a teacher and for the last 9 years in the voluntary sector, working with disabled people and with migrants. Currently, I work for City of Sanctuary Sheffield (I was previously a trustee for 6 years). I have been a councillor for Broomhill and Sharrow Vale ward for the past five years. As a leading member of Sheffield City Council, I chair the Adult Health and Social Care Policy Committee as well as the Health and Wellbeing Board.

I am passionate about social and climate justice and firmly believe the two are interconnected. I know how important it is to tackle the growing inequality in our country and we cannot do this without recognising climate injustice. By looking after the most disadvantaged in society, who are the most affected by climate injustice, we can create a new balance for people and planet.

I know how much we need to address the housing crisis, making homes warmer and safer and building the houses of the future. We need to create communities that are green and well-connected, where people feel safe and where their health and well-being can thrive.

We need to protect the NHS and fund social care properly and for the long term. We must give hope to our young people and give them opportunities to have a positive future with the skills for the future.

Cllr Angela Argenzio Cllr Angela Argenzio We need to change the narrative around migration. We must enable safe and legal journeys into the country but also shift how the UK positions itself on the world stage. We need to become leaders in peace and stop arming countries that commit human rights abuses.

We need to heal our planet through a complete system change: keeping fossil fuels in the ground and stopping endless consumption. We need to look after nature and share the planet’s resources equitably.

Only the Green Party offers a vision of hope for the future.

I see first-hand how Greens in the room make a difference. We make other parties work harder because they have to keep up with us.

I want to be the Green voice for Sheffield Central in Westminster! If you want real change and real hope, vote Green on the 4th of July.
