Statement to voters

Matt is passionate about enhancing opportunities for young people, protecting the environment, investing in our communities, encouraging local businesses, and halting the decline of our high streets. Matt feels it is important to secure effective levels of health and social care to support people to live independently and wishes to stop the erosion of our health and social care system.

Matt said: “I am very humbled to be asked by the members of Meon Valley Labour Party to be their parliamentary candidate. I believe that this is the most important election in a generation, with many big issues being vulnerable to large change. From the NHS, to the environment, and from house building to public transport. This election is about far more than just Brexit and I am passionate about fighting for local communities on issues that matter to them. I am confident that Labour’s policies will shine through as bold and pragmatic solutions that will take our country forward. I am looking forward to talking to the residents of Meon Valley and sharing my visions for local investment, hope for our young people, and talking about how I would advocate on behalf of the constituency”.

Matt launched his campaign on Saturday 9th November at Waterlooville High Street and will be out regularly in the constituency talking to residents. Matt welcomes any opportunities to come and talk to groups or take part in hustings.

Matt, 33, is an experienced university lecturer and event manager who has run his own business. Matt is an active member of his local church and has previously supported it through home group leadership, and pastoral care. He plays hockey and has captained his local club.
