Statement to voters
I am an islander from a family rooted to Minster for many generations. I was educated on the Island and have lived, worked and been involved with the local community for most of my life.
I am chairman of the Island Learning Academy, a highly rated, Sheppey based, Multi Academy Trust, including Minster and Halfway primary schools. I am also a trustee of Friendship House, Thistle Hill Community Centre, Minster Gatehouse Museum, Blue Town Heritage Centre and Eastchurch Aviation Museum.
Having been first elected to Swale Borough Council in 1979 and serving as Mayor in 1986/87, I was instrumental in the sale of the “Council Housing Stock” to Swale Housing Association and the reinstatement of Minster Parish Council, which was lost when Sheppey Councils joined together in 1964. I have now been a parish councillor for 18 years
