Statement to voters

I was elected as the Women’s Equality Party’s first Councillor in 2019 in Congleton Town Council, and was re-elected in 2023.

Full statement

I have been called the hardest working local Councillor by many, including some of my Council colleagues.

In my time as a Councillor, I have a track record of working collaboratively across the board to end violence against women and girls by getting White Ribbon Accreditation and helping start a domestic abuse clinic. I led the initiative to join the community safety charter, and have worked with Cheshire Police to challenge hate crime and make our streets safer.

I have made better childcare, community inclusion and improved access for disabled people priorities, campaigned for better public transport, led on Congleton’s declaration of climate emergency and initiated numerous sustainability projects.

I’m proud to be standing for the Women’s Equality Party in Congleton Constituency, and I would be honoured to represent our community in Parliament.

Over the last 14 years the Conservatives have paved a path of destruction, bulldozing through our NHS, cutting gaping holes in our local services and driving policies that mean a third of children are now growing up in poverty. We’re facing crises on all fronts, from the changing climate to broken services to escalating violence against women and girls. Congleton deserves better.

It is simply not true that we can’t afford to fix the services we all rely on. In fact, we can’t afford not to. Voters are tired of the same old party politics. We need big, bold ideas to deliver the kind of change we need to reverse the decline. This is a moment for political courage, and I am brave enough to tackle poverty, put the needs of the people first and invest in a truly transformational, new deal for care.
