Statement to voters
Dear Resident, For me, being a local campainger is all about identifying issues and finding solutions, it is not an audition for higher office or a personal publicity campaign.
Full statement
It is about building relationships with residents, agencies and stakeholders so that they will work with you to achieve desired outcomes and results.
You will be aware that I recently lobbied for a motion to go before Full Council requesting that RBC engage with Network Rail to re-visit their feasibility study into level crossings and provide new costings. Once they are available we can then pursue the matter further.
We can also look into potential solutions for Staines Bridge and the adjoining roundabout and the exit from Glebe Road onto Thorpe Road.
I am actively involved in a number of local organisations, events and activities in the Egham Area including Egham Chamber of Commerce, Business Runnymede, @theLit, The Teaboat Project, Magna Carta Day, Frogs Island Fair. Most recently I instigated the introduction of the Runnymede Civic Awards, arranged Egham Hythe's first jumble trail and was invited to become Chairman of Runnymede Neighbourhood Watch.
In addition to the level crossings campaign priorities for Egham Hythe include:
• Establish a community hub at the Egham Hythe Centre, with activities for all residents, and getting young people off the streets with healthy, fun and educational activities. • To refurbish our children’s playgrounds and make Pooley Green playground safer. • Continuing to stand up for residents regarding proposed developments in the area. • Deliver a Neighbourhood Forum to give residents more of a say in decision making. • Expand the Neighbourhood Watch scheme across the area. • Attain parking, pedestrian crossing and speeding solutions for residents.
This Thursday our community faces an important choice. We can continue with an excellent Conservative-run council, and a strong local team with Cllr Alex Balkan that is delivering for residents. Or take a gamble with Labour or Liberal that would put all that we have achieved at risk. I hope that you will instead support me so that I have the opportunity to be an active and visible campaigner for Egham Hythe.
Thiss will be a close election and every vote will count. Please make sure you vote for me, Mark Adams, on Thursday 4th May. Let’s work together to make Egham Hythe even better.
Kind regards, Mark
