And been a town councillor for twelve of those (plus the 2020 ‘bonus’ year). In her working career she was an energy policy specialist, so was intimately involved in establishing Southill Solar and Southill Community Energy (SCE), a 4.5MW solar farm between Charlbury, Fawler and Finstock. When Charlbury town council was petitioned to declare a climate emergency - and did so unanimously in November 2019 -She was asked to help explore with residents what that might mean. She worked with councillors and residents to set up a working group of the council, catchily titled ‘Environment Working Group’. Many people are becoming involved with several exciting projects coming down the line. Liz was pleased when WODC declared a climate emergency and she applauds its moves to plan for delivering on it. If elected, she would take a keen interest in modifying planning policies to create a zero carbon buildings stock as effectively and quickly as possible; and to transform the district’s journeys infrastructure to promote public transport and pedestrian- and cycle-friendly networks.
