Statement to voters

Humphrey brings over 20 years of experience in local government planning, alongside a lifetime spent working in the farming industry.

Full statement

Quite simply, there will be no other candidate in this election with the same depth of experience, practical knowledge, and genuine passion for the local community.

Having retired and recently recovered from surgery, Humphrey summed up his decision to stand by saying:

“I can no longer stand by and watch my country and my community here in East Devon continue to decline.”

That is why he has chosen to step forward once again and fight for the place he proudly calls home.

Humphrey’s priorities include:

♻️ Tackling fly-tipping

Fly-tipping blights our villages, lanes and countryside. It not only affects local residents but also leaves farmers footing the bill to remove rubbish dumped at field entrances and gateways. Humphrey is determined to hold those responsible to account and protect our rural communities.

🏡 Housing local people first

Too many local families are being forced out of East Devon because suitable housing is unavailable or existing housing stock is poorly maintained. Humphrey believes local people should have the opportunity to remain in the communities where they were born, work and raise their families.

🏗️ Sensible, sustainable planning

East Devon does need new homes—but they must be the right homes, built in the right places and supported by the right infrastructure. Roads, GP surgeries, schools, drainage and local services must come before unchecked development.
Humphrey will fight to ensure that any new housing delivers the infrastructure, facilities and services our communities need, rather than imposing unnecessary large-scale developments that fail to benefit local residents.
