Statement to voters
I have been a Green Campaigner since I got the vote back in 1969 casting my vote for the "Homes before Roads" candidate in my home town of Brentford.
Full statement
In the 1970s I joined the Young Liberals where I learned a lot about community campaigning. In 1979 I joined the Ecology Party, which evolved into the Green party, mainly due to their non-GDP growth economic policy. I spent most of the 1980s in Ashford, Kent campaigning for the developing Greenist Policy portfolio and standing in borough and county elections.
In 1988 I moved to Wallsend where I still live, to read for a Botany degree as a mature student. Over the years since I have stood as a Green Party Candidate in numerous times at local and national level.
I have carried out a range of campaigns in Wallsend and North Tyneside covering Trees, Housing and more specific projects such as The Buddle Arts Centre and a Town Council for Wallsend. When elected I will campaign for the council to work with the "Trees for Streets Project" to improve the arboreal profile of the Borough and to get safety a priority on our footpaths and roads.
