Statement to voters

STEPHEN ION – A STRONG VOICE FOR RESIDENTS IN RUSHMERE Stephen lives in north east Ipswich and has been your Councillor for the last four years.

Full statement

During that time he has stood up for residents' views against the Labour run council – most notably when over 250 local people opposed the council's own controversial planning application in Sidegate Lane. He is determined that residents' opinions be heard at planning meetings.
The other Councillors in Rushmere represent the Labour party. If re-elected in May, Stephen will be able to continue to be a Conservative voice holding them to account.
Stephen supports the Ipswich Northern Route and is pleased that all local councils have signed up to the principle.
He also believes that Ipswich has great potential if money is spent in the right areas. Under the Conservatives we can achieve that vision.
Please give Stephen your support on 2 May.
YOUR PRIORITIES ARE MY PRIORITIES
STANDING UP FOR RESIDENTS
When over 250 local residents voiced their opposition to a controversial planning application in Sidegate Lane, I was the only local Councillor to stand up for their interests and speak against the plans at the planning meeting. I am the only non-Labour Councillor in the ward, without my presence who will stand up for you?
NEW TREES IN WESTBURY ROAD
It's taken many years of battling with the County Council to get replacement tress for those cut down but Stephen was pleased to eventually get 4 new trees planted late last year. Being a Councillor is not all quick wins, sometimes you have to persevere over a long time to get a result for residents.
GETTING THINGS DONE…
From helping with funding for new tennis courts, getting weeds and paths cleared, stopping unwanted back garden developments, getting a new wet room for a disabled resident a Councillors life is certainly varied. If re-elected I hope to be able to help many other residents with there day to day issues – be they big or small.
