Statement to voters
Moreton is a fantastic place to live, work and grow.
Full statement
However, we can make it even better and I am determined to work hard to ensure residents’ voices are heard at Cotswold District Council and that we get the resources, funding and focus that Moreton so rightly deserves.
It’s been great getting around Moreton and Todenham and helping residents with any issues or supporting their endeavours. Already I’ve ensured potholes are filled, roads resurfaced, and bins collected. I’ve secured a commitment to look at installing a traffic light crossing in our town, worked to get more police on our streets, and held developers to account on new housing projects. If elected, I will continue to work hard for our town and will ensure that my door is always open to local residents and businesses.
I live in The Avenue, just off Todenham Road, along with my wife and daughter, in the heart of the ward and am proud to be an active member of our great local community. I’m honoured to be Chairman of a local educational charity – providing educational facilities and equipment to adults and children in the Cotswolds. I’ve previously served as a parish councillor on Blockley Parish Council. And, I am an active member and supporter of many of our great local societies and groups.
I have a plan to make Moreton an even better place, and I do hope that you will give me the opportunity to work hard to deliver on your behalf.
MAKING THE FOSSEWAY SAFER- pushing to add traffic lights to the pedestrian crossing; look at the extending the 20mph zone to the crossing and to the railway bridge; improve road signage and markings; get potholes filled and secure road resurfacing where needed.
SECURING INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS- ensuring that new housing is properly scrutinised; securing contributions from developers towards local infrastructure; working to ensure our school, roads and NHS can cope before new developments are considered.
BOOSTING PRIDE IN OUR HIGH STREET- cleaning up our streets and street furniture; working to develop a long-term solution to parking; develop a high street business forum; look at CCTV for the town centre; push for timely works for the Redesdale Hall.
