Full statement
He is a retired professor with a detailed knowledge
of how poverty and inequality affect people’s health.
He has experience, knowledge and skills that he can use to campaign for
more resources for local health priorities.
Barrie says: ‘Theresa May’s legacy when she leaves office will include the
shocking fact that 30% of UK children are below the poverty line and 70%
of them live in working families’.
If elected Barrie’s priorities as a Councillor will be:
• To reduce the impact of poverty on health, particularly for children
• To provide better support for senior residents so they can stay in
their own homes
• To provide affordable public transport to suburbs like Coxford
• To implement Labour’s Green City Charter to improve air quality
for everyone.
