Full statement

She says “I see first-hand the difference Labour values and policies has made in Shirley and our City, and it is an honour to help deliver this. A few examples of the improvements I have made to Shirley include; housing improvements, from major insulation work to sprinklers in Shirley Towers; making Shirley safer, from introducing lighting in Colebrook Park, bollards on Wilton Road, securing a safety patrol person for Wordsworth (not Woodsworth) Primary School and a refugee island on St James Road; ensured Shirley is a place to be proud of, by driving forward a road resurfacing programme, setting up community litter-picks, facilitating youth projects and community events, and guaranteeing Christmas lights for Shirley Highstreet. As a cabinet member I have set up initiatives to tackle poverty and inequalities, protect and build community infrastructure, and help create a city identity and sense of pride. There are still many challenges ahead within Shirley and the wider city, and if elected I will remain committed to addressing these, so everyone can thrive in Southampton.”
