Dennis Booth and his wife Mary have lived in the Guildford area for more than 40 years and raised their children here.

They have always loved being active in their community, assisting (and representing) local residents: they were founding members of a residents’ association and are actively involved in their local Church.”

Dennis is one of our candidates for the election to the West Surrey Unitary Authority on May 7th 2026. He will be standing for the Horsley Ward which is made up of East & West Horsley, Effingham, Ockham, Ripley and the village of Wisley.

Dennis says “I’m proud to be standing for election as an independent, resident-focused voice for our villages. As a former Borough Councillor and Mayor of Guildford, and now your Surrey County Councillor, I have seen clearly how those in power so often ignore what we residents want, riding rough-shod over our needs, views and wishes. This was never more apparent than the flawed decision to grant planning permission for Wisley New Town.”

“As a resident representing residents, I will take our battles direct to the Unitary Authority. I’m not interested in the backbiting, point-scoring and wider agenda of national political parties; I’m focused on what we need and want for our local people and the place in which they live”.
