Ashley has lived in Weybridge with his family for over twenty years after moving here to teach physics at a local secondary school.

He is an active rower and orienteer. He enjoys cycling and sings in a local choir. An Elmbridge Borough Councillor since 2019 and a cabinet member since 2021, he is proud of the number of improvements in Weybridge he has proposed that have been implemented: improvements to the town paths, including installing lighting and better access through the main car park, his idea to install a sustainable splash pad which was hugely popular when it opened last year and his suggested alterations to the refurbished Library for a landscaped seating area and public entrance from the car park.
Elected as the Surrey councillor for Walton South & Oatlands in 2023, he has been successful in improving safety outside schools: yellow zig zag lines, 20 mph restrictions and wider crossing refuges. He will continue to push for more zebra crossings and safer streets for walking, wheeling and cycling.
