Statement to voters
Having called Woodley home since 2002, I've become deeply aware of our community's unique challenges.
Full statement
My journey in local politics began in 2003 as a Woodley Town Councillor, evolving into my current role as the Borough Councillor for Bulmershe & Whitegates since 2011. Over the past 11 years, I've led initiatives securing over £30 million for community enhancements. Key projects include securing £6 million for Bulmershe School improvements, another £6 million for high-quality elderly housing on Fosters Lane, and campaigning for the new £14 million Bulmershe Leisure Centre in 2018. In 2019, as Deputy Executive Member for Children's Services, I also secured £4.4 million to expand Addington School.
As a Borough representative, I've addressed a broad range of resident issues, including children school admissions, planning, adult social care, and local road infrastructure, as well as campaigning against increased car parking charges and fortnightly bin collections.
My commitment to serve our community extends beyond politics; I co-founded a charity in 2005 aimed at enhancing the prospects of young people from vulnerable backgrounds, benefiting thousands. Additionally, I'm involved in homelessness initiatives and served over six years as a governor at Bulmershe School.
I am particularly devoted to enhancing education and the upskilling of our youth, so that they can have better start in their lives alongside improving adult social care, providing respect and dignity to our elders in later part of their lives. My directorship in two companies - one focused on emerging technologies and the other on healthcare - reflects these passions.
As Bulmershe & Coronation forms a new ward, I am eager for your support to keep serving and championing the needs and aspirations of our community. Your feedback is invaluable, and I am here to address any concerns or ideas you may have, committed to making a positive difference in our lives together.
