Statement to voters

Nick O'Shea's family has lived in Hove since the 1970s and he now lives here with his wife, Marion. He is a director of a quoted public company and finance director for several small privately-owned companies based in Sussex . Nick has a degree in maths & chemistry and qualified as a chartered management accountant while working for several major international companies.

Nick was a district councillor in Mole Valley in the 1990s , representing the residents of a couple of villages on the Sussex/Surrey border. He served as chair of the budget committee and direct labour board, and vice-chair of both the policy & finance and development control committees during this period .

Nick has been highly critical of the secretive approach all present parties on the city council have taken in looking at the redevelopment of the King Alfred Centre and is appalled with the dreadful record of refuse collection and recycling the council has, especially as it has more supposedly Green councillors than almost any other council in the region. In contrast, as a result of initiatives by the Lib Dems when he was a councillor there, Mole Valley council has one of the highest recycle rates in the country with separate waste food and composting collections.

This statement was added by Nicholas Desmond O'Shea, their team, or by a Democracy Club volunteer, based on information published by the candidate elsewhere.
