Statement to voters

I have been one of your Borough Councillors for the past 12 years and have lived in Southborough since September 1983. I retired from 33 years as an Environment Officer with the Environment Agency and predecessor bodies in July 2006 and since my election in May 2007 have been working full time supporting local residents in your ward.
My many years of practical experience in the environmental field have been really useful as your Borough and Town Councillor. When I was the Chairman of Southborough Town Council’s Parks and Cemetery Committee in 2011 I initiated the involvement of the Kent High Weald Partnership with the revision, updating and implementation of the Southborough Common Management Plan and has been helping out with some of the practical tasks.
I have been Chairman of Tunbridge Wells in Bloom since 2014 and was delighted when the town won a Silver Gilt Award in Britain in Bloom in October last year.
I was honoured to be appointed as Mayor of Tunbridge Wells in May 2015 followed by two years as Town Mayor of Southborough from May 2016 to 2018. During my term of office as Town Mayor and chairman of Southborough Town Council, progress has been made with the three councils, STC, TWBC and KCC, who have worked together to deliver the Southborough Hub, construction of which should be starting in June this year. I am convinced that the completion of this project will revitalise the centre of Southborough.
I hope that I can count on your vote on May 2nd so that I can continue to serve you in Southborough North for a further four years.
