Statement to voters
Christiane is a Blaby resident and councillor at Braunstone Town Council. She previously lived in different parts of the UK, from the East Riding of Yorkshire to Cumbria and Nottinghamshire. She finally found her new home in Thorpe Astley some 12 years ago when she married a ‘born and bred Leicester lad’ and soon after welcomed her twin boys. Christiane understands the challenges of social inclusion and the benefits of diversity in our society having a multi-national family:
‘I think we forget sometimes that we are all from different backgrounds, be it different nationalities or different parts of society. This actually is a source of enrichment, not difference and we should celebrate it instead of fighting against it’.
Christiane joined the Green Party to make change happen and to fight for the environment and equality in our society by influencing local politics and engaging in promoting sustainable business and decision making.
Christiane is an ardent supporter of a variety of charities ranging from the RSPB, Twins Trust, Vista and Perfectly Edible UK (a local initiative to reduce food waste).
Having previously worked for 2 major UK retailers, as well as supplying language tutoring and training, Christiane knows the challenges of business small and large. Christiane is a keen defender of work-life balance, having recently given up her career to retrain in the field of sustainable business and giving back to our community by becoming a local councillor. Christiane understands the challenges that face our modern families and fights for more equality in our society:
‘We are at a critical time - we must act now and change the status quo and act on climate change. I believe that the way forward is to strike a balance between business profits, the wellbeing of our society and the state of our planet. I also believe that we need to do everything in our power to challenge the current political situation of aggressive rhetoric. It is time to get back to basics and build up our communities and support each other, whatever background we’re from.’
If you share Christiane’s vision and ambitions and want your community to be part of the future change, then please support her by voting for the Green Party in the Cosby and Countesthorpe County elections. Christiane will give her all in supporting and representing local people, the environment and the economy in the most sustainable way.
