Statement to voters

As a community activist I’m well-known for standing up for local residents.

Full statement

Standing up to Renfrewshire Council as they have let our town down and challenging them over their inaction idly standing by the while we lose the town’s most prestigious heritage buildings. – However due to my campaigning, Council officials are now prepared to take out a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) if absent owners do not respond to the most recent requests.

Measures they have never considered in 40-years. - And measures that 43 existing councillors have insisted for over ten-years to our residents ‘it cannot be done’

“I knew it could be done and I’ve now proven that it can!”

'I stand for members of the group I lead https://www.facebook.com/groups/savetherai and for residents who asked me. - I’m standing because Renfrewshire Council is in a mess and things need to change’.

WHAT PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW? I have previous Councils experience, I know how they work, how to get the best from them and how to make changes from within a Council - And GOD knows this Council, NEEDS to CHANGE!

I also have business and town planning experience and I have previously been responsible for the management of the largest Council property portfolio in the UK. So I would ask residents to trust my experience to revitalise communities and High Streets, as ours has been so neglected by the current administration.

I am passionate about Paisley a town where generations of my family has lived since 1900. - Like other Paisley Buddies we have seen it at its BEST, and we’ve watched like seventy-five thousand others, its decline. – But we CAN get this back!

I want see our town accelerate its recovery from the pandemic and other struggles as quickly as possible to make people’s lives better, To deliver better front-line services, much-needed community facilities and the regeneration of our High Street which will bring more local jobs and a sense of community that we once knew, and I believe everyone wants back.

It’s what I’ll be fighting for, I’ve done it before and I can do it again for Paisley. - If you vote for JIM on the 5th May 2022.

It is a scandal what has happened with no action being taken by Renfrewshire Council officers and the existing councillors. - They have a lot to answer for but I am determined to put a stop to that, FULL STOP!

It’s why I believe that at this election it is massively important who you vote into Council for the next five-years for the future regeneration of our town - And if we (don’t get it right) this time – We will see more of the same. So, I believe we need to have experienced action-takers and influencers sitting at the Renfrewshire Council table and should I be elected for the Paisley Southeast I’ll make sure our ward get the resources it needs'

I’m standing because the SNP who will not accept the will of the Scottish people, and are making a mess of Government are putting up a second candidate in Renfrewshire who has absolutely ”NO EXPERIENCE”, for no other reason than to try to win a majority of council seats (which I believe would be a disaster for this Council) - and for Paisley!! Labour too are doing the same with another “inexperienced second candidate” who will also simply follow the party line and do nothing for us.

At a time when Paisley needs experience to get us out of this mess. Can I ask that you vote JIM and put (1) next to my name, or if you can’t because of politics, will you lend me your 2nd preference vote and put a (2) next to my name - And judge me on what I achieve?

”Paisley 2022: - Vote for Experience over Inexperience - Vote Substance over Symbolism - Vote for Action over more Inaction.

And make our town a Better Paisley starting from NOW?”

‘My record of delivery speaks for itself. - I NEVER take credit for the work of others. - I’ll deliver upon that if elected and I’ll ensure the voices of the residents of Paisley Southeast are heard Loud and Clear and I will put residents first. – ALWAYS.'

I have a simple question in regard to all of the above; - Who do you want fighting your corner for the next five-years? - Someone who has no experience and cant. - Or someone who has proven that they can, and will do everything they can for a Better Paisley?
