Statement to voters

I am concerned at the scale of the climate and ecological crisis that we are facing, and the wide-spread corruption and failure of our public institutions in performing their basic duties - and the almost complete lack of understanding of these issues among all the political parties, including sadly, the Green Party of which I used to be a member.

Full statement

I was elected me as a district councillor in May 2023 and in this role, I have successfully stoped a mega-poultry and pig farm from coming to West Norfolk, fought for and obtained guarantees of a competition-grade swimming pool to replace the existing outdated pool, helped several residents obtain warm home heating grants and got a garden wildlife competition underway to encourage people to look after the wildlife in their backyards. I'm a GP by profession, and this involves regularly talking to hundreds of people from all walks of life. I believe this breadth of experience has stood me in good stead in the rough and tumble world of politics and media coverage. I write a monthly Politics opinion column for the Lynn News which has been generally well received. My contributions as vice-chair of the Norfolk health overview scrutiny committee have been praised by journalists as well as colleagues from other parties.
If elected I will be a champion for Downham Market which has great potential to become a beacon for a sustainable, healthy, and joyful way of life.
