Statement to voters
The Green Party is in my opinion, the only party that has a proper understanding of the scale of the climate and ecological crisis that we are facing.
Full statement
In addition, south-west Norfolk has been woefully served by its current MP Liz Truss since 2010, and local people would welcome an opportunity to vote for someone different. I'm hard-working and sincere, and I won the trust of the people of Airfield ward who elected me as their councillor last May. I would like to take this opportunity to reinforce my commitment to serve the people in this area. There's a great vacuum here in terms of anyone speaking up for actions against climate change and to improve our biodiversity, speaking up about the cost of living crisis and against the corruption that has seeped into all levels of this government. I'm a GP by profession, and this involves talking to hundreds of people from all walks of life. I believe this experience has made me a good communicator and this will stand me in good stead in the rough and tumble world of politics and media coverage. I am under no illusion regarding the scale of the challenge to beat the incumbent, but I've never been scared away from any campaign or activity by worrying about the result. The successful Lynn incinerator campaign which I actively participated in, would never have gotten off the ground, if campaigners had listened to all the naysayers. As health, social care and public health spokesperson, I have had exposure to various media platforms including X, radio (LBC and BBC Norfolk), newspaper articles and television. I will use every opportunity to highlight our excellent health and social care policy which stands in stark contrast with that of our competitors. I write a monthly Politics opinion column for the Lynn News which has been generally well received. My contributions at the Norfolk health overview scrutiny committee have also been praised by journalists as well as colleagues from other parties. In summary, I believe I am well placed to make the most of the opportunity offered by the general election to ensure that more people are aware of Green Party policies. I would like to give them the opportunity to vote for their party of first-choice. If I win, I will prioritise the MP role over that of my professional career.
