Statement to voters

I’m Neil Baker, standing for Whitstable East and Herne Bay West, covering Eddington, Greenhill, Hampton, Studd Hill, Swalecliffe, and Tankerton.

Full statement

Born and raised in Whitstable, with family ties here since the 1700s, I now live in Greenhill. I’ll tackle each area’s unique needs with bespoke solutions, not blanket policies.

Educated at Swalecliffe School and Simon Langton in Canterbury, I believe quality education is vital for future generations.

Kent’s roads need fair, long-term, funding from Government – not just Westminster rhetoric from the latest Minister. I’ll work on your behalf to secure this.

I’ve long pushed for highways authorities like Kent County Council to properly manage roadworks. Utility firms dig up roads with little warning, thanks to outdated laws, leaving councils helpless. This disrupts lives, hits businesses, and chokes the economy. I’ll keep pressing the Government to grant councils the powers people assume they already have.

I’m fed up with empty promises about cleaning our rivers and seas. We need action and a swifter timeline – I won’t let ideology get in the way.

A councillor can’t fix everything, but having seen much change in my lifetime, I’m determined to protect our patch for the future. Amid rapid shifts and uncertainty, I’ll ensure modern technology and new ideas benefit all, not just a few.

With your backing, I’ll give every resident a voice on Kent County Council. Local government isn’t flawless, it can frustrate, but I’ll make it serve Whitstable East and Herne Bay West.
