Statement to voters

Frank Adlington-Stringer is North East Derbyshire's first and only elected Green but, at the age of 26, has already achieved for his community.

Full statement

The election of Frank prompted the Labour leadership to establish the Council's first Environmental Scrutiny Committee. In recognition of his thumping victory unseating the Conservative Chair, Frank was appointed as the Vice Chair of that committee. In this role, Frank has pushed the council to be greener and fairer by leading discussions on all aspects of its service, from plant-based catering to wild verges and public transport to biodiversity. Frank rose to prominence when his motion, calling on government to support a ceasefire in Gaza whilst the council works to tackle local discrimination and racism in the wake of the awful war, was met with absolute silence from all 52 of his council colleagues. This was one of many viral videos which spurred Frank to a historic result in the inaugural East Midlands Mayoral election in May 2024.  In the region where Reform UK has its only MP, Frank's energetic, inspired and people-powered campaign, secured 3rd place for the Green Party. Beating Reform, the Liberal Democrats, and Independents put Frank on the map. In Chesterfield, Frank was just 671 votes short of beating the Tories whilst in North East Derbyshire, he secured over 15% of the vote share. With this momentum behind him against an incumbent Conservative MP who stayed silent as Boris Johnson bunkered down in No. 10 but also served as a Minister under Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak's reign of chaos, Frank may be set for another record breaking result.  Locally, in North East Derbyshire, it's clear that the Green Party are the only real alternative. Since 2019, Frank has thumped the Tories in one of the their local election strongholds; provided real opposition to a Labour Council prepared to parrot the commands of their London Headquarters; and secured an impressive Mayoral result which left the establishment feeling rattled.  Frank will again be taking his compassionate approach to politics door-to-door as he sets out real hope and real change for North East Derbyshire.
