Statement to voters
I am pleased to be standing for re-election for the Bromsgrove South Division.
Full statement
Since being elected in 2019, working with different parts of our communities and bringing them together has always been a priority. We can achieve so much more working together than alone. Therefore, if re-elected maintaining and encouraging community campaigns to improve our local area will continue.
The views of residents and how they will be impacted is always my first consideration when working as your councillor. For example, at a recent planning committee meeting I objected to a commercial building extension in Stoke Prior which I felt would damage the area in many ways.
Over the last 18 months we have achieved many changes that affect the everyday lives of residents including speeding on local roads, resurfacing footways, and installing a new controlled crossing on Charford Road. It has been exciting to see how local groups have used my divisional funding contributions to support the services they offer to local people including the Halloween activities in Charford.
Schools are key to our community and I am very proud to be the local authority governor on Stoke Prior First School with responsibility for behaviour and welfare. The traffic calming measures being introduced on Charford Road to protect our children is a fantastic change. We will ensure schools are provided with further opportunities to get involved in the wider community.
When speaking with residents they raised the lack of engagement with local councillors which led me to introducing regular joint councillor surgeries which have been a great success. I feel its vitally important that councillors are accessible and visible in order to understand the issues facing local people.
It has been a privilege to have been the youngest Worcestershire County Councillor and represent the residents of Bromsgrove South. If re-elected I will continue with my work to make Bromsgrove South a better place to live, work and visit.
