Statement to voters

I grew up and went to school in Wokingham.

Full statement

I live locally with my family and am the Executive Member for Finance at Wokingham Borough Council. I also serve on Wokingham Town Council and am keen to see the town thrive and be a great place to live.

I’ve represented Emmbrook residents on Wokingham Borough Council since 2017 and as the Executive Member for Finance, I am responsible for ensuring that Wokingham Borough Council is managing its finances in what are very difficult circumstances. Central government decisions have put overwhelming pressure on Wokingham Borough Council's budget, forcing spiraling costs. We have managed to bring down the level of Council debt that we inherited while keeping the council stable and ensuring that our funds are spent supporting those in the most need.

Under the Liberal Democrats, the town council has been fighting inappropriate development, installing recycling bins, upgrading local play areas, tackling anti-social behavior, maintaining its market and parks as well as supporting many of the events that make our town a great place to live.

As well as being a Councillor, I work in the IT industry. I can regularly be seen walking my dog in the area.
