Statement to voters
Here's some info about me.
Full statement
..... I currently live in Etching Hill and I have lived in Rugeley for the whole of my life.
Having been a District Councillor in the past, I understand what is needed to really represent our community and to stand up for residents. As a Councillor I was known for resolving issues raised by residents, holding local ‘help and advice’ sessions and carrying out ‘estate walks’ on the Springfields to identify and report issues.
By working with residents, together we addressed numerous issues in the area such as fly-tipping, housing repairs and overgrown trees and hedges.
I have lived in the area all my life and understand the challenges we have faced as a community over recent years, such as unemployment and deteriorating public amenities.
Supporting the community is important to me, advocating for residents’ concerns and supporting initiatives to help resolve the problems we face.
If elected, I aim to focus on listening, learning, and building constructive relationships – I recognise that people in the community often have the best solutions to problems, and that long-term success is achieved through co-operation and shared purpose.
My approach is guided by a focus on transparency, fairness, and practical outcomes to support strong communities and ensuring that people feel informed, respected and included in the processes that affect them.
Key Achievements
Contributed to community initiatives focused on improving local services and resident wellbeing, including promoting healthy cooking sessions and sharing energy saving ideas and initiatives.
Worked collaboratively with organisations to address neighbourhood priorities such as anti-social behaviour.
Promoted council transparency, by clearly explaining why decisions were being made and sharing this with residents, for example planning outcomes and budget announcements.
Championed practical, sustainable solutions shaped by residents’ feedback, including securing Council‑funded skips for the Springfields so that households without transport could safely and easily dispose of accumulated waste.
If elected, I wouldHold regular ‘help & advice’ sessions so that residents can meet with me and raise the issues that they regard as important.
Create opportunities for residents to take part in local community action such as public meetings to discuss big issues, and litter picks in ‘hot spots’.
Stand up for our area to get our fair share – actively engage with Government to gain funding to develop our area; ensure that planning applications include improvements to infrastructure and services; supporting local businesses; restoring local services; and improving public transport and the local environment.
On Thursday, May 7th, 2026, I’m asking for your vote so I can have the opportunity to deliver real change for our community.
