A former inner city headteacher, working in deprived parts of Derby, the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border and subsequently as an educational consultant, Edward now works through the Green Party, Greenpeace, the Church and Al Gore's Climate Reality organisation to ensure the future of everyone's children.

His life changed as a result of sailing around the world in the Clipper Around the World Yacht Race. Spending months at sea, negotiating powerful storms and extreme weather, gave him a powerful insight into the impacts of overheated oceans. A sailing expedition to the Arctic in 2023 also brought home powerful truths about the melting of sea ice and the Greenland ice sheet. Those experiences, coupled with the birth of his 4 grandsons, are his motivation for standing in this election. Living in Uttlesford for 11 years, he was the environmental stakeholder for the Uttlesford Local Plan and nationally succeeded in getting 1,000 church bells to ring out their warning on the eve of COP 26. He works with Saffron Walden Town Council to increase biodiversity and supports Eco Church teams around Uttlesford. He led the 'Railway Arms' Garden team in establishing that hugely popular community pub. As an MP he will be passionately engaged in local constituency issues as well as holding the government to account to ensure a viable future for us all on a fast-changing planet.
