Anne Clarke's policies
Statement to voters
I feel extremely lucky to be a part of such a friendly, vibrant community here in Hayfield and New Mills and if elected in May I will work hard and ensure that I am a strong voice speaking out at County Hall to get the focus on our area that we deserve.
Full statement
Before retiring I was a teacher and worked as a negotiating secretary for the National Education Union and was on the NEU's National Women's Forum. I now maintain links with education by serving as a governor at two of our local primary schools.
I have been a member of Friends of the Earth for over 15 years and am actively involved with environmental groups in both New Mills and Hayfield. I am secretary of Hayfield WI and also chair of New Mills Fair-trade group.
As we come out of the pandemic and reassess priorities this gives us opportunities for positive change. I would relish the opportunity to work collaboratively with residents fighting for the improvements they see as priorities such as, improving the green transport infrastructure, introducing 20 mph zones, improved parking, securing Goyt Valley House's future, and re-opening the New Mills Youth Centre.
