Statement to voters

I have both lived and run a business in Blean Forest Ward and care about it, and Canterbury district, greatly. I am married with two young children. I’ve been working hard to support my residents and help digitally transform our Council and its services.

My priorities for the next four years include:
- creating a Council-owned bin collection and street cleaning company.
- using ANPR and sensor technology to combat traffic congestion and air quality issues.
- protecting and enhancing our heritage assets.
- lobbying for a full service hospital in Canterbury.
- tackling graffiti through increased surveillance and cleaning resources.
- supporting Parish Councils to serve our rural areas.
- using policies to support the transition of the high street in our city and towns.
- enhancing our Local Plan to ensure new housing developments include sustainable energy generation and electric vehicle charging.
- continuing and accelerating the rollout of electric vehicle chargers to on-street parking and off-street car parks.
- working with mobile phone companies to improve mobile phone coverage across the district.
- leveraging the Council’s assets and partnerships to deliver free Wi-Fi to Canterbury city centre, Whitstable town centre and Herne Bay town centre.
- support speedwatch and other initiatives to reduce speeding.
- tackle parking issues and deliver regular enforcement.
- help restore Post Office services to Blean.
- use our rules on HMOs to protect the balance in our neighbourhoods and foster stronger communities.
