Statement to voters

I am standing to represent the area of Severn Vale where I live with my family .

Full statement

I want to be your voice at Gloucestershire County Council, standing up for the issues that are important to residents and small businesses in the area.

I believe councillors should be visible and responsive all year round not just elections. Covering such a large area of Gloucestershire and serving so many communities with the due care and attention residents deserve will require a huge level of commitment, as leader of the Borough I have committed myself to serving residents as my full time role, I currently hold a monthly councillor surgery and deliver a regular ‘Focus’ newsletter. Since January I have started delivering this across the whole of Severn Vale and if elected I’ll continue the quarterly updates to all residents and increase my councillor surgeries across the Severn Vale. I am also contactable by email (richard4severnvale@gmail.com), telephone (07825155215) and through social media (Facebook: StanleyBcleeve).

Having listened to residents across the whole division I know that the issues most worrying residents and I’m keen to get straight to work in helping deliver results.

You can see some of my previous work and the previous commitments I’ve made and delivered for residents below.

My 2023 Statement (I have kept this here as a record of my previous statements and election promises so voters can see what I have said in previous elections compare with my record of action) :

Thank you for electing me to represent Bishops Cleeve West in 2019 as your Borough Councillor , I am very proud to have represented our village and love our village and its community spirit.

Bishop’s Cleeve is not without its fair share of challenges and I have worked to try to tackle problems, big and small, to improve the lives of our residents.

These include: * Reducing littering by setting up a local litter pickers group * Tackling Anti Social Behaviour by working closely with our local police, residents and businesses in the areas most affected. * Fighting for our community infrastructure such as parks, community centres and green spaces * Supporting local community groups * Helping Bishops Cleeve gain more sporting facilities including helping with funding bids for BCFC and helping organise a Free skate park day for families. * Coordinated the Bishops Cleeve Covid-19 volunteer group. * Help campaign for a new primary school in the north of the village instead of on Kayte Lane in the south. * Kept residents updated on planning applications in the ward and spoke against unsuitable development in our area. * Helped residents most affected by the cost of living crisis. * successfully petitioned a developer for fire safety checks on all new homes in the ward after some homes had been found to have missing fire safety insulation. * Spoke against moves to increase operations which in could increase odours at Wingmoore farm. * Helped to secure odour reduction measures * Held monthly councillor surgeries at the Library * Kept residents updated with a quarterly focus

I am standing on my record of action and on a Liberal Democrat Manifesto to which you can see here: https://www.tewkesburylibdems.org.uk/news/article/tewkesbury-liberal-democrats-launch-manifesto

Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my work.

**My 2019 profile** - I have kept this as an archived statement so residents can compare my previous election statements with my record in office.

2019 Statement: As a Foster Carer I have seen first hand the impact of cuts to our Schools, Police and NHS.

Bishops Cleeve has been doubly hit by funding cuts whilst growing rapidly. We are now a village the size of a small town but without the facilities and services to match.

I am a first time candidate who wants to make a positive difference and I will be working hard to make the change that the residents of Bishops Cleeve deserve.

I love Bishops Cleeve, my children are in local schools and we are settled into the community with friends and family here.

I intend to listen to residents and you have told me that my priorities should be:

- Policing & Crime Prevention - Residents before Developers Profits - Maintaining our broken roads, pavernents & cycle paths - Protecting our environment, parks & greenspaces - Enhancing the village centre, reversing its decline & ensuring it has ample parking - Sound Financial Management.

I can not fix everything overnight but I am dedicated to Bishops Cleeve residents for the long haul and believe with your support we can make it an even better place to live for everyone.
