Statement to voters
My name is Madhu Khanna-Davies and I have had the honour of being selected as the Labour candidate for the up-coming Council by-election in Cyncoed which will be held on July 16th.
I am a local resident who has lived in Cyncoed since 2005. I am a Mother to two wonderful children who attend the excellent Rhydypenau Primary School and Cardiff High School. I currently work as a Shop Manager for Marie Curie but my past working roles include being an Office and Finance Administrator for The London Women's Clinic, and when I was a politics PhD student I lectured undergraduates as an Associate Lecturer. I have a BSc Econ Politics and an MSc Econ Political Theory at Distinction level. I have previously served as Chair for Cyncoed Labour and as BAME Officer for the Cardiff Central CLP.
Locally I led the successful Save Rhydypennau Library campaign. I was the Founder of the Friends of Rhydypennau Library group which I then went on to actively Chair for the first 2 years.
I understand many of the pressing issues that local people feel from cuts to services, maintaining roads, environmental issues and public transport . As your candidate I pledge to champion our vital services in the face of change, to give ordinary residents a voice and to ensure that Cardiff continues to be a City of which we can be proud.
