Statement to voters

When I was younger I was told I was idealistic. Now I am older I know that idealism is a necessity. The greatest obligation of our lives is that we pass on a better world to those who come after us. This election is a once in a lifetime opportunity to do this.

I live in Montgomeryshire. I have spent my working life in business, latterly as a senior manager in the UK and Ireland healthcare software business for a major US multinational company. I have been a non-exec director of a domestic violence charity and a volunteer for an animal charity for 20 years. I am a life-long campaigner and trade unionist.

I have been a member of the Institute of Directors and I currently serve as a business mentor in the Women’s Equality Network for Wales. I know how to listen, to find solutions and to get things done.

I am in politics to ensure that children are well fed, warm, housed and well educated. That workers have the rights and protections they need, the education to get a good job and to retrain throughout their careers, and enjoy a free and well-funded NHS. To enable this we must ensure that businesses have the environment they need to succeed. We must take care of those in our community who serve or served in the Armed Forces. We must ensure that older people live in dignity and not fear, and pass on the wisdom of their years. We must protect our planet.
