Statement to voters

My priority is to boost skills training for young people. Our bloated university sector needs to be slimmed down. Instead, greater investment is needed in apprenticeships and vocational skills – urgently required to re-build our industrial base. We need real jobs to produce real things.

I will also clean up South Yorkshire’s towns and cities and select flagship historic sites for regeneration. Homelessness and street begging shames our society. I will urgently establish a Taskforce to develop secure hostels for rough sleepers.
