Statement to voters

I live locally with my husband and three children, having resided in Sancreed during childhood.

Full statement

I worked as a waitress in Sennen and packed daffodil bulbs for a local farm to support my studies, which ultimately gave me a great career Teaching in local schools.

A few years ago, I diversified and developed my own business which is now a successful Chartered Engineering company. I have a passion for supporting charities and giving back to my community, ranging from a sponsored marathon run, volunteering to help local school children improve their reading skills, delivering weekly hot meals in Pendeen, and assisting at a local food bank.

I am thrilled to have been selected to stand as a candidate in the newly formed Lands’ End division and if elected, look forward to being able to give my time to help improve the area and represent residents’ views at Cornwall Council. I have a fresh, forward-thinking, positive approach, a real understanding of local issues, a strong voice, and an absolute determination to get things done.

Protecting and enhancing our environment
The environment absolutely must be at the heart of our decision-making. Replacing recycling bins, improved waste management, protecting our green spaces, heritage sites and coastline are all important priorities to me - as is planning for quality affordable housing which enhances our environment and meets the need for our local residents. I will work with the Council and environmental organisations to achieve this.

Improving road safety and local transport links
I will campaign for better traffic calming measures through residential areas, to bring speeds down and improve traffic management during the holiday season to eliminate irresponsible parking and ensure safer roads. I support cheaper bus fares and more frequent routes linking villages, towns, beaches, and beauty spots which will help to alleviate congestion and work towards lower car use.

Supporting Local Business
I support strong investment to help businesses recover, grow and succeed. I will speak out for encouraging and investing in innovative new markets, start-ups, and the green economy - enabling the creation of new employment opportunities for local residents as well as improved access to training for young people and those who want to retrain.
