Full statement

I grew up on Church Street and went to school here too. I am Witham through and through, proudly standing again to represent our town.

Being a local councillor isn’t glamorous or high-flying. It’s about putting in the hard work and standing up for residents. Since 2021, I have represented the north of the town. I have fought hard to get things done and have a record of action and delivery:

1. Fighting Witham’s corner for more highway repairs - I have secured 100s of pothole repairs plus full resurfacing jobs for Chipping Hill, Collingwood Road, Cressing Road, Braintree Road and Colchester Road. Forest Road is scheduled for the next financial year.

2. Supporting our town centre and local businesses - I saved one hour free parking for Newland Street and continue to be a thorn in the side of Braintree District Council, ensuring they fulfil their commitment to improve our town centre.

3. Holding utility companies to account - They must do more to minimise disruption during road works, ensure better communication with residents and properly repair the highway once done.

Boundary changes mean that, if re-elected, I will represent the south of our town for the first time. If successful, I will push National Highways to end the nightmare of the A12 bridge “temporary” traffic lights. I will also work to achieve full resurfacing jobs for Hatfield Road and Maltings Lane.

Local elections should not be decided based on what is happening in Westminster - they are about our area. The question is who has actually shown to deliver for Witham? If you re-elect me, I pledge to keep working hard for you and to address the local issues which really matter.

WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED SO FAR….

Getting roads resurfaced
I have enabled the full resurfacing of the main artery
roads including Avenue Road, Braintree Road, Chipping Hill,
Colchester Road, Collingwood Road and Cressing Road.

Fixing potholes
I have secured pothole repairs in Ashby Road, Hatfield
Road, Maltings Lane, Newlands Drive, Rickstones Road and
Scarletts Close – just in the last few months alone.

Securing free parking on Newland Street
My campaign forced the North Essex Parking Partnership
to abandon plans to impose rip-off pay-and-display car
parking charges. One-hour free parking has been saved!

Holding utility companies to account
I have held utility companies and Essex Highways feet to
the fire, sharing residents’ anger on endless road closures –
securing changes and rethinks to ease pressures.

AND THERE’S MORE TO DO!

Resurfacing Forest Road and Maltings Lane
After a sustained campaign, Essex Highways has confirmed that Forest Road and Maltings Lane will be fully resurfaced by July 2026. If re-elected, I will continue the fight to upgrade our roads and pavements, including Hatfield Road.

Stopping gypsy traveller incursions
For far too long, the caravans rolled onto the Rickstones Rec and fields by the Saxon Arms. I campaigned to remove the illegal incursions swiftly. I’ll keep putting pressure on Braintree Council to secure our green spaces to prevent further breaches.

A new bus route to Broomfield Hospital
I helped secure the funding for a new bus route between Witham and Broomfield Hospital (starting July 2026). I fought for new bus shelters, including most recently by the station. Two new ones are set to be delivered on Newland Street this summer.
