Statement to voters
Do Horley a favour, vote Samantha and Taylor
I live in Ringley Avenue, and care passionately about making our town a better place to live.
Full statement
So when residents asked me to put myself forward to be one of your East Surrey Councillors, I wanted to do so.
I have a track record of action in the community, despite not being an elected representative. I've reported over 400 potholes to Surrey Highways since May last year, I tackled fly tipping in Riverside Garden Park, put pressure on Network Rail to cut back overgrown hedges around Horley Station and have relentlessly campaigned to get our town the infrastructure it needs.
If you elect Samantha and I to East Surrey Council, our priorities are:
- Fix the potholes and pavements. We'll get the worst roads in Horley East fully resurfaced in our first term if elected.
- Make Horley feel safe again. We'll work with Surrey Police & Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend and local police to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
- Get Horley what we need for the future. Our town is growing and we haven't caught up. We'll clear the drains and fix the mobile reception in Langshott and The Acres.
- Support our local businesses. By pushing for one hour of free parking in Council-owned car parks and a six month rates rebate for all new businesses in the town centre.
- More school places. Pushing for better school provision, including a second secondary school. And delivering a proper plan based on my lived experience as a former SEND pupil to make SEND education better.
- Keep Horley clean and tidy. By tackling fly tipping, installing more bins in the Gardens Estate, and campaigning to stop pavement parking on double yellow lines.
On Thursday 7 May, you have the opportunity to shape Horley's future for the next few years, and your vote could make all the difference.
This election won't change what's happening in Westminster, despite what's being said on some leaflets. But we can change what happens here in Horley.
A vote for Samantha and I will ensure that your East Surrey Councillors are focused on making Horley East better. And we have a clear plan to make our town a better place to live.
You have two votes in this election. Do Horley East a favour, and vote Samantha and Taylor on Thursday 7 May.
