Statement to voters
Kenneth Morton is a qualified Rural Chartered Surveyor, Agricultural Valuer and Project Manager, who has worked in various positions for private estates, civil service, third sector, consultancies and energy companies for over 25 years having dealt with matters ranging from housing, forestry, agriculture, renewables, the environment, as well as energy transmission and generation.
Full statement
Born and raised in rural Ayrshire and settled in rural Perthshire via Lancashire and Stirlingshire and now living in Perthshire on the edge of the Carse of Gowrie with his wife Karen and a Springer Spaniel, Kenneth has been at the forefront of witnessing the collapse of rural areas following the closure of coal mining, has witnessed the lack of joined up thinking with regards agriculture, forestry, energy policy, the damage done to the marine ecosystems due to over fishing, not to mention the degradation of the NHS, public infrastructure and transport, and our once leading education system as he has gone through life.
Kenneth was one of the first to stand for Reform UK in the 2021 Holyrood election and has been an active proponent of Reform UK since then having also stood in the 2024 Westminster election, delivering thousands of leaflets to the constituency, attending hustings and responding to government consultations both personally and on behalf of Reform UK.
As well as giving energy generation, grid planning, agricultural and environmental talks to local members branches, Kenneth wrote the 2021 energy policy paper for Reform UK and has input into Reform UK policy on a number of matters.
If elected to Holyrood, Kenneth intends to help reform Holyrood and better align its policies to support Scots in their everyday lives, reduce the burden of over regulation and put Scottish economic growth back in a positive direction.
Kenneth’s top priorities for North Perthshire are as follows: -
• Reduce the cost of energy, and thereby lowering the cost of living for everyone and businesses
• Reform the agricultural support system and reduce the bureaucracy on farmers
• Reduce taxes to enable people to spend their hard earned money on what they want
• Reform the NHS to reduce waiting listsPeople often quote that the “nail that sticks up, is the first to be hammered down”, but the truth is if no one stands up, then everyone is hammered flat and nothing will change, Kenneth is standing up and ready to represent the people of North Perthshire and invites you to do so as well, and to join him in building a better Scotland by supporting and voting for Reform UK in the upcoming Holyrood election.”
