Michael Turvey is a father of three, an oil and gas worker with 19 years experience, a volunteer and president of a local charity.

He is passionate about the energy industry, empowering young people and improving lives in the North East.

His priorities for the Scottish Parliament are:

• delivering more effective NHS and care services,
• reducing the cost of living,
• supporting our oil and gas workers,
• bringing Scottish education back to its best; and
• fairer funding for the North East.

Michael has recently helped re-write the Liberal Democrats policy on Oil and Gas Taxation to support a long term, predictable regime that supports investment.

In Spring 2026, he helped pass policy motions supporting redeployment of health resources to preventative medicine and to care services to release hospital beds. The motion also opposed the SNP’s GP “walk-in centres” which will draw finite resource away from communities across the North East.

Michael has also lead calls and a policy change to support funding for local bridge maintenance.

Michael is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Aberdeen Donside and residents across the North East can also vote for him on their peach regional ballot.
