Gavin Sean Ridley's policies
Statement to voters
“As a teacher in the ward, I feel passionately about the environment we are creating for future generations.
Full statement
I myself gained my university education at Magdalen College, and have had close connections with Parks Ward for many years of my life. I am an academic in the field of animal welfare and believe that a local councillor can and should hold people, animals and the environment in equal importance. I firmly believe that politics should be characterised by compassion and honesty, be science-led and focused on social justice for people, animals and the environment that we share.”
Gavin Ridley
AWP Candidate, Oxford Parks Ward
My priorities include:
Prioritising the climate and biodiversity crises in all council decision-making
Opposing speciesism in all its forms
Working collaboratively with other council members to urgently achieve Net Zero for Oxford
Improving air quality by working to end the idling of vehicles and other traffic related issues
Collaborating with our student population to create a sustainable future for the ward
Advocating for plant-based food and drink options to be served in public settings, including council-catered events - and for the Plant Based Treaty to be endorsed
Ensuring our green spaces are protected in all decision making
Pushing back on littering by working to increase the number of bins and recycling facilities
