Statement to voters

During the A14 upgrade National Highways created chaos.

Full statement

I campaigned before I was elected and got National Highways to change it's approach they started monitoring air quality, increased nature and made big changes to how they worked. As a Councillor I got 840,000 dead trees replanted with biodegradable tree guards along the length of the A14 upgrade and a maintenance agreement.

4 years after being first elected and I am still as hungry to get things done locally and make a difference which is why I am restanding for election as County Councillor in Histon, Impington, Orchard Park and Kings Meadow.

Fix our Roads.
Pot holes come up time and time again. Decades of underfunding has taken it’s toll on our roads but in the last 4 years I have stopped flooding again and again including on the B1049 by the Holiday Inn and Glebe Way, at the bottom of Bell Hill and on Clay Close Lane.

I have campaigned for road and footway maintenance and have got pavements made safe in Orchard Park, broken drains fixed pavements fixed in Kings Meadow and major maintenance to New Road, Impington and the raised tables by Vision Park, Station Road and Camtrust, Cambridge Road. If re-elected I will continue campaigning for this area to see the maintenance work it needs.

NHS.
Firs House in Histon is straining at the seams and Orchard Park doesn’t have a GP surgery or dentist. Residents deserve better. I am working with our MP Ian Sollom to get the NHS to change the rules and meet demand.

Greener.
I have got more buses on the busway and was the first person to raise the lack of an Orchard Park / Cambridge North bus stop on the new Waterbeach busway and will continue fighting for this until Orchard Park gets the stop it needs.

I have campaigned successfully for safer streets; we now have a 20mph zone in Histon and Impington and one confirmed for Orchard park. I have significantly improved connections; Ring Fort Road path will provide a much needed safe connection between Orchard Park and Impington.

My campaigning for a greener Cambridgeshire achieved more nature by the A14 and new flower beds in Orchard Park. I have rolled my sleeves up and planted trees and hedgerows with community groups and helped at the annual Swish.

Time and again I have turned up, listened and tried to solve problems. I attend parish and community council meetings, know the schools and community groups and have spoken to thousands of people. I know my way around the council and am adept at finding solutions. There is so much more we can achieve as a community in this great place we live in. I want to help make good things happen.
