Statement to voters
DELIVERING REAL RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
I’m Mishal Saeed, your local Councillor for Higher Irlam and Peel Green—and I’m standing for re-election because I believe local politics should be about one thing: getting things done for our community.
Full statement
I’m proud to call Salford home. It’s where I’ve built my life, started my family, and committed over 15 years to public service—from grassroots volunteering to standing up for workers, families and local communities.
Over the past four years, I’ve focused on delivering real, visible results:
- A new children’s play area at Brookhouse
- Investment in community spaces and local groups
- Funding for schools, grassroots initiatives and local charities
- Action on flooding, antisocial behaviour and road safety
- Improving the quality of roads by resurfacing Brookhouse Avenue, Northfleet Road, Broadway and part of Liverpool Road
- Protecting our area from the A57 lane reduction scheme
- Supporting our allotments and voluntary groups
- Protecting and enhancing our green spaces
I don’t just talk about change—I work with residents to make it happen.

A LOCAL VOICE THAT LISTENS — AND ACTS
Politics can feel disconnected from everyday life. I do things differently.
Whether it’s holding organisations like United Utilities to account, working with GMP to tackle antisocial behaviour, or standing alongside care workers fighting unfair conditions—I make sure your voice is heard where it matters.
When residents raised concerns about the potential closure of Astley and Monica Court and about the impact of A57 lane reduction scheme, I listened and campaigned—and we won those campaigns together.
That’s what local representation should look like.
⸻
FOCUSED ON WHAT REALLY MATTERS
This election isn’t about national political noise or divisive headlines.
It’s about:
- The condition of your roads
- The safety of your streets
- Investment in our community
- Enhancing our green spaces, play areas and allotments
- Opportunities for our youth and children
- Supporting our community groups
- Improving our public services - social care and mental health
As a new mum, I understand first-hand the pressures families face—and how important it is to build a community that works for everyone.
⸻
SECURING INVESTMENT — AND PUTTING RESIDENTS FIRST
Peel Green is set to receive £20 million of investment through the Pride in Place programme.
I will make sure that:
- Residents shape how this money is spent
- Investment delivers real, lasting improvements
- Our community gets its fair share
Because investment should never be done to a community—it should be done with it.
⸻
MY COMMITMENT TO YOU
If re-elected, I will continue to:
- Fix the basics — better roads, cleaner streets, protected green spaces
- Support young people and families with safe, accessible community spaces
- Take a zero-tolerance approach to crime and fly-tipping
- Back local groups, volunteers and businesses
- Stay visible, accessible and proactive to help
⸻
WHY THIS ELECTION MATTERS
At a time when politics can feel increasingly negative or disconnected, I offer something different:
A proven track record.
A strong local voice.
A year-round commitment—not just at election time.
And a focus on getting things done.⸻
RE-ELECT MISHAL SAEED ON MAY 7TH
Let’s keep moving our community forward—together.
