Statement to voters

I was born and grew up in Cornwall, and this is the place I’ve always called home.

Full statement

I was raised in a small business family and went to my local comprehensive. I later joined Truro School to study for my A-levels before graduating from the University of Bristol with First Class Honours in Politics and International Relations (BSc).

After graduating, I worked as an Area Manager for Aldi Stores UK, gaining valuable experience in global supply chains, management and recruitment. Before that, I’ve had all kinds of jobs, including working in pubs and restaurants, on building sites and in care homes.

Before moving back to Cornwall, I travelled with my girlfriend to Vietnam, the Philippines and Bali. It was here that we decided to pursue building a business back in Cornwall together. We are now the proud co-owners of Seasmiths Fish + Chips and opened our first shop in Porthtowan in March 2020.

It was this experience of starting a small business, just three days before the Covid-19 national lockdown, that reaffirmed the importance of building a fair, prosperous economy, which encourages entrepreneurship and supports small businesses.

I am an experienced and long-standing party member and activist, having worked on numerous local, regional and national campaigns.
