Alwin has lived in Gloucestershire since 2000 and together with his wife, has raised his sons here.

While they were at Hillview Primary School he was a Parent Governor at the school. As a STEM ambassador Alwin has engaged with many schools and pupils across the county, hopefully encouraging some of them to think like scientists. Alwin will ensure that Gloucestershire pupils are given opportunities to make the most of their talents.
Alwin is passionate about cycling, both as a means to efficiently get to work, school or the shops but also to keep fit. He has helped organise charity bike rides and in the year of the London Olympics cycled from Gloucester to Paris raising money for the British Paralympic Association. He will work hard to improve road infrastructure for ALL road users including pedestrians and drivers.
Alwin’s Mother taught him to recycle long before it was obviously the right thing to do. He will work for the environment while ensuring residents have good facilities to dispose of waste without harming our planet.
Alwin grew up in South Africa and as a student, witnessed some of the horrors of apartheid. Inspired by Mandela, Alwin wants to ensure that the most vulnerable people in our society are treated fairly, with dignity and respect. His leadership style is to welcome challenge.
